I am certified and insured to teach yoga and swimming and have taught a variety of classes for ages two through eighty-two. My regular classes include gentle, all levels, family/community, kids, and teen yoga, as well as parent and child aquatics, preschool aquatics, and learn-to-swim levels 1-4 for children and adults. I also offer periodic, outdoor "happy hour" yoga and swim events and am available for one-on-one or small group private lessons, as well as corporate/team events.
During the summer months, I offer private and small group swim lessons for children and adults. Contact me if you'd like to learn to swim in a private, safe, and welcoming environment. Since earning my 200-hour Hatha yoga teacher training in May 2017, I have been teaching a variety of yoga classes, from power to gentle, as an independent contractor in the Kansas City area. I taught weekly classes for adults, adolescents, and children at NKCYOGA in North Kansas City, from 2017 until its closure during the COVID-19 pandemic. I also teach a weekly class for Kansas City preschoolers at Kids Logic Academic Learning Center. I have offered kids and teen yoga classes through other schools and nonprofits, as well monthly yoga "happy hour" events, and am available to teach private lessons for individuals and groups in the KC metro area.
I have several years of experience editing and producing audio and video, as well as managing accounts receivable and payable for a commercial real estate developer working to revitalize historic buildings in Kansas City. Working primarily as a producer over the past few years, I have enjoyed collaborating with fellow filmmakers to create videos for area nonprofits, businesses, and musicians. I also enjoyed watching previously blighted areas evolve into thriving hubs for creatives and entrepreneurs, as well as established KC businesses and professionals.
As an adjunct for the Department of Communication Studies, I taught audio editing for both radio and film students at the University of Missouri-Kansas City. My eight-week Pro Tools workshop included instruction on audio editing and mixing, as well as the post-production workflow. Students received assistance with sound recording, writing for radio, including promo and show scripts as well as station IDs, and voice-over work.
My work first as a technical editor/broadcast engineer and later as an assistant producer for New Letter on the Air was comprised of a wide range of tasks. I regularly researched and booked guests for the nationally distributed public radio literary program. In addition, I engineered, transcribed, timed, proofread and edited interviews, and wrote promo and show scripts. Weekly tasks included maintaining the show's website, updating social media, podcasting, and uploading content to National Public Radio’s Content Depot and the Public Radio Exchange. In addition, I corresponded with publishers and authors and ordered and received books, created and distributed CDs for guests, audio archives, and customers, assisted with the management of a grant-funded archival process and voiced narration for promos and shows as needed.
For Film Row, I began by assisting with special events and bookkeeping and grew to manage a variety of office activities, events, and accounts for the multi-property, multi-faceted business comprised of movie theatre and event facilities, commercial real estate, construction, and renovation. My role in accounting included the creation of various financial reports, as well as management of accounts payable and receivable for theatres, event facilities, construction projects, and commercial tenants. I also fielded maintenance requests, paid company taxes, and renewed licenses and permits. My role coordinating private, public and corporate events, included regularly corresponding and meeting with customers to inform them of company rates and services and to give tours of theatres and event facilities, drafting contracts and invoices, and tracking payments, and helping staff events as both a bartender and projectionist.
The Administration for Children & Families is an operating division of the United States Department of Health and Human Services. During my five-year tenure with ACF, I supported and worked with the regional Office of Community Operations to evaluate, monitor, fund, and administer federal grants for Early Head Start, Head Start, and Runaway and Homeless Youth Program in a four-state region. My work included planning, coordinating and helping lead federal on-site monitoring reviews, and maintaining electronic tracking systems to ensure accurate, effective and timely oversight. I also analyzed and edited regional monitoring reports and letters to ensure accuracy and clarity of citations, conducted budget analyses and technical reviews, and developed written evaluations of federal grant applications
